Hey everyone! My name is Bailey, and I am from a town in East Texas called Palestine. I am a pre-vet student with a degree in animal science! I am a veterinary technician at an animal hospital here in Lubbock. I am also currently applying to veterinary school. I love caring for animals every day and want to do it for the rest of my life. Outside of school and work, I like to spend my time fishing, reading, and hanging out with friends!
When was the first time you connected with the club? What was your initial reaction?
I met members of the club for the first time at Red Raider Orientation my freshman year. I signed up that day. The first thing that I noticed was how nice and welcoming the club members were.
What exactly did you like most about Christians at Tech that led you to join the club over a number of other things? What surprised you the most or made you the happiest about joining C@T?
The thing I liked most about Christians at Tech was the sense of family that I felt when I was around the club. I appreciated how the club members genuinely cared about one another and wanted to lead one another to the Lord. I felt that they really wanted to get to know me and they wanted to see me back again. So, I kept coming back. What made me the happiest was seeing how quickly I grew in my relationship with God and the other club members after joining. I realized that I had found my place.
What are three benefits you’ve experienced as a result of joining C@T?
1) I have come to know the Lord more than I ever realized I could.
2) I have met my best friends through the club.
3) I have learned how to have spiritual companions and seek the Lord with them.
How did/does knowing Christ and pursuing Him with others in the club help you?
Pursuing Christ is easier and more enjoyable when you have someone to share it with. I am able to worship, read and pray together with other members of the club. This has helped me grow so much. This was especially true in the beginning of my time with the club, when I was first learning how to properly seek the Lord. When I don’t understand something or I just need someone to help me along, someone is there. Pursuing Him alongside other club members has also kept me accountable and reminded me of the importance of including Him in my everyday life.
If you were to recommend C@T to your best friend (or any interested student), what would you say?
I would say that if you are looking for a place to grow in your faith, learn more about Christ, and make so many friends, then Christians at Tech is it.
